What motivates you at work?

I really enjoy my work. I am motivated foremost by a sense of partnership – we are working together to achieve shared goals. Shared endeavour provides such motivation and satisfaction, and in this industry there’s always more to do! That sense of partnership extends not only to clients and colleagues, but to everyone in this industry, such as partnering with a journalist for a really good article or with a banker for a great transaction, and when viewed that way work becomes a series of satisfying collective challenges and achievements.

When not at work, where would we likely find you?

When I am not at work, I am most likely with my family: my wife and two daughters. When they’ve had enough of me, I’m probably out with friends or playing tennis!

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

The best piece of work advice I’ve received has been to “question, learn and persevere.” Critical thinking and a desire to keep learning, along with resilience and a strong will, are vital to success. When combined with kindness, fairness, loyalty and a sense of humour, you’ve got the key ingredients to happiness.
